Questo ho avuto la fortuna di acquistarlo gratis su amazon nel mese di gennaio perchè era in promozione e avevo già messo la serie in wishlist ^_^
La trama:

Hawke ha perso la moglie anni fa in seguito a una rapina finita male e lui non ha mai smesso di cercare i responsabili.
E' così che incontra Tate, perchè il ragazzo è il figlio e il fratello dei due assassini e Hawke spera di arrivare a loro tramite lui; però non sa che Tate e suo figlio Matty sono in fuga dalla sua famiglia e non può aiutarlo anche perchè ha appena scoperto che il bambino ha la leucemia.
Hawke lo ricatta, così che Tate lo aiuti in cambio dei soldi per curare il bambino.
L'elemento che fa unire i due uomini è proprio Matty che con la sua dolcezza riesce a sciogliere il cuore di Hawke e così inizia ad ammettere si essere attratto da Tate: questo ovviamente lo spaventa perchè c'è sempre stata solo sua moglie ed è difficile per lui anche solo pensare di andare avanti con la sua vita, figuriamoci con un uomo come Tate.
Quello che Hawke imparerà è che si può andare avanti senza per questo dimenticare il passato e le persone che abbiamo amato.
Tate è un uomo in fuga e farebbe di tutto per tenere suo figlio Matty al sicuro da suo padre e suo fratello, anche scendere a patti con Hawke: durante la lettura si scopriranno i motivi che hanno portato Tate alla fuga e posso solo dire che il suo coraggio è ammirevole.
Questo libro per me ha un punto negativo però e vi avviso che è spoiler quindi in caso fermatevi qui: la prima volta dei due uomini non mi è piaciuta assolutamente perchè Hawke è un pò troppo violento per i miei gusti, prende Tate con un pò troppa la forza e il ragazzo glielo lascia fare nonostante il dolore perchè "capisce che è quello di cui Hawke ha bisogno"-----> no non ci siamo per me. Anche se dopo Hawke si pente e dimostra in ogni modo il suo amore per Tate, mi rimane comunque l'amaro in bocca...
Per una cosa negativa però ce ne è una positiva e per me sono Ronin e Seth: si prendono cura di Matty mentre Hawke e Tate sono in missione e sono adorabili col bambino; la scena in cui si rapano anche a loro a zero per aiutare Matty a fare terapia mi ha toccato il cuore e tra l'altro fa capire a Hawke che ha trovato finalmente una famiglia.
